Les (Risley, the last owner) was taking off from the Aniak Airport
and the flap control rod failed on the right wing causing Les to lose control of the aircraft and it struck some trees off
the side of the runway. He left the aircraft there. Last information on it was the airport took the wreckage to the dump. |
Note: Richard E. Fulwiler writes,
I am convinced that she "is not" a Marketeer and is most probably a Monarch 26.
I think this primarily by the height of the Airstair door
top extending much further up the fuselage side than was typical on the On Mark doors.
I Cc'd Joe Baugher on the mail I sent but have not received
a return from him, and his entry on this aircraft remains the same. I believe this aircraft had been originally misidentified
as a Marketeer by the same trusted sources that identified so many Marketeers as being a Marksman. Once these labels are placed,
it takes a lot of counter " proof " to correct the record.
I am not positive of the correct identity, but I am sure
she is other than a Marketeer. Being shown to L.B. Smith in 1962 expands on the mystery.

"6101" at the Galveston Airshow in 1970/1971
Regarding this airframe Richard
E. Fulwiler writes
"I was reviewing your site, and may have discovered another Marketeer, N6101C !
I checked Joe Baugher’s site and he just shows civil registry to N6101C.
Studying your photo series I see : Marketeer style side cabin windows in
the side view shot;
Conical tapered fiberglass radar nose extension similar to the one seen on Marketeer N5530V (
your “ 103” nose and early ray-dome style comparison photos ):
Right side nose on photo shows a under-wing window barely discernable against the bright mid-section
aluminum finish;
Left side nose on photo ( very small photo ) at the Galveston air show shows the On Mark style
starboard Airstair down ( at 400% zoom it gets really grainy but the door is noticeable to me ). In the other photo with the
crowd all around, the Airstair is up."
What do you think ?

Note: It was at the CAF airshow where 7079G (re)broke the spar. The incident
occured during a banked turn, not a loop. IIRC the spar had been previously repaired and was the subject of some litigation.
The majority
of the wing spar cracks are concerned with the A-26 is due to one of the wing bolt mounting holes on the rear wing spar of
the wing section....not the attachement point on the fuselage.
Evidentley there is a pop noise it makes
when one goes under heavy loading.
