Douglas A/B-26 Invader The Dan Jackson collection |
|||||
Regarding the photos included in this section, Dan Jackson wrote, I though you might be interested in these photographs that I found in my Dad's collection. He worked for Superior Oil for 38 years and was the radio operator on this aircraft. He rode in the Plexiglas nose cone and helped raise and lower the magnetometer that Superior used for locating ore beds. The instrument was raised and lowered from outside the bomb bay doors. My Dad is in the middle and I am trying to find out who the other 2 people are. Also included are close
ups of the magnetometer, and the hand crank used to raise and lower the instrument. The guys complained enough eventually
to get an electric motor to run the crank. I also found what appears to
be sales photos from Consolidated when they were trying to sell converted B24s as corporate aircraft. Dan Jackson, Calhan Colorado.
